Hi, I’m virginia.
I’m a counsellor and social worker living and working in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. After a stint as a news reporter and anchor in my 20s, I realized that I wanted to focus my professional life on helping people rather than reporting on the things that hurt them. I went back to school and obtained a Master of Social Work degree from Loyola University Chicago. Since obtaining my Masters, I worked in the community with clients from diverse backgrounds, facing diverse challenges, before opening my private counselling practice in 2021.
Now back home in B.C., I am a Registered Social Worker with the BC College of Social Workers and the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers. This means I am able to provide virtual mental health services to individuals living in both B.C. and Ontario.
My practice is dedicated to helping people re-connect with themselves and others in ways that feel safe. This process often involves exploring and challenging closely-held views and beliefs, feelings of burnout, shame, and other challenging emotions. This can only happen within a relationship of trust and safety. I take my duty to create the safe space necessary for this important and deep work seriously. Whatever you are looking for, together we can create a therapeutic plan that works for you.
